Post-COVID19 Information, Rules & Measures at U ROCK climbing gym

[Updates – March 21st, 2021]

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we tried to do the best we can to be socially responsible to prevent the spread of the CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19), and U ROCK facility was closed temporarily, even before it was mandatory to do so.

We are happy to announce that we will be resuming operations, as per the following measures and guidelines.

However, we will continue to assess the situation and will keep you updated on any changes.

Our team members will always be ready to assist you and give you more clarification when needed.

Resuming Date

As per the government’s announced dates, we will be resuming operations on MONDAY, March 22nd, 2021.

Opening Hours

To comply with the government’s mobilization decisions, our schedule will be temporarily amended as follows:

  • Monday to Friday from 4 PM till 8 PM
  • Saturday from 3 PM till 8 PM starting October

Gym Capacity & Reservations

We will be using alternate lanes for the top ropes and auto-belays, to maintain the 2 meters physical distance between climbers, i.e. do not climb on occupied adjacent wall faces.

Please refrain from congregating in groups and observe 2 meters safe distance. Those not climbing at all are not allowed in the climbing area, as we have limited the maximum capacity on the floor.

Until the COVID-19 measures are completely lifted and we are back to normal operations, only 15 people will be simultaneously allowed in the climbing area.

During the first 2 weeks, we will not be taking any reservations for groups or Intro to Climbing sessions. The 1-on-1 sessions will be only booked based on the availability of the team, as in the coming period our main attention will be on the good implementation of the health and safety measures.

Beginners and first-timers should come with climbers who can assist and belay them. It is a transitional phase, so bear with us.

Members & Punch-Card Holders

All monthly memberships and punch cards, that have not expired by January 6th, 2021, will be extended by the number of remaining days from January 7th, 2020 inclusive until the expiration date, from the day we resume operations.

For example, if your membership should have expired by January 20th, 2020, it will be extended by 14 days, starting the re-opening date.

For any inquiry, please reach out to Jad Bou Chebl by phone (+961-3-807854) or by email (jad@urock-climbing.com).

Equipment Rental

It is very important to use your own equipment as much as possible, as sanitizing the rental harnesses and belay device will only be done once per day, either at the start or the end of the climbing period.

You can only rent out HARNESSES, SHOES, and BELAY DEVICES, BUT NO CHALK BAGS.

TO LEAD CLIMB, BRING AND USE YOUR OWN ROPE.

Health Measures

We conducted a thorough cleaning and disinfection of U ROCK’s entire facility (walls, holds, hang boards, campus board, tension cage, mattresses, equipment, … ) before we reopen.

We want to emphasize the importance of physical distancing, and proper responsible behavior at this time, by respecting and complying the following MANDATORY guidelines:

  • Do not climb or enter any climbing areas if you’re exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19
  • Practice physical distancing at all times by maintaining a minimum of 2 meters between yourself and others
  • Wash your hands frequently, ESPECIALLY BEFORE CLIMBING
  • Do not climb barefoot or using your street shoes
  • GET SURGICAL MASKS to cover your nose & mouth, during the entire stay, EXCEPT when you are climbing
NO MASKS WILL BE SOLD AT U ROCK!
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Keep on you a bottle of SANITIZING gel or a pack of SANITIZING towels
  • Cough or sneeze to your inside elbow
  • Do not shake hands and warmly greet your friends
  • Do not share your chalk-bag

If any climber or guest does not abide by the aforementioned guidelines, we will kindly ask her/him to leave the gym, for the mutual safety of her/him and others.

We will get through this together because of the strength and support of our community. We cannot wait to climb together again soon.
